The raw material of all Tekno products is wood, the oldest natural resource. The history of man is linked to the evolution of this material: the poles were in fact made of wood to build the huts, the shelters, the beams and the very first refuges, and today, most floors are still made of wood.

Parquet and men have a parallel evolution, and they are both rooted in a remote past. Still today, we appreciate the main features of the parquet, like the simplicity and the high heat resistance, that give to the rooms warmth and lightness, and a timeless beauty.

The wood we use for Teknorekord and TeknoEvo wooden floors is a precious material, renewed over time: a well groomed forest can give us wood forever, and remaining one of the most widely available renewable resources. The wood can be continuously cutted and used by man, and in the meantime replanted to reconstruct a new piece of our history.

For the above reasons Tekno pays much attention to the conservation chain which guarantees the origin of the wood from forests managed according to rigid environmental, social and economic standards.

How to choose the Parquet

BUYING GUIDE

For a naïve eye, every parquet looks alike; this is why the choice can be difficult.

A parquet is a piece of furniture that will pamper you in your everyday life, giving your home charm and elegance. This is why it’s important that the parquet you choose will be a quality, long-lasting product that guarantees excellent reliability.

So, it’s essential to pay attention to some fundamental characteristics to be sure that your choice is the best one:

QUALITY. The quality of the paint and glue is essential to avoid dangers for you and your loved ones health. The finishes used for all Tekno’s product lines meet the migration limits for heavy metals set out in the EN 71-3: 2018 standard, which guarantees the suitability of the materials used in the construction of kid’s toys.

NOBLE LAYER. A noble wood surface layer, with a thickness greater than 3mm, distinguishes a quality product. All TeknoRekord products have a noble wood surface layer of about 4.2mm, while the TeknoEvo products have a noble wood surface layer of about 3.2.

PRODUCT CONSTRUCTION PROCESS. An industrial parquet guarantees greater reliability: just think about  the cuts made on the back of the planks, a feature that consent the floor to adapt well to the screed, and improves the cohesion with the adhesive.

PAINTING. The painting cycles used for the production of Tekno’s products guarantee for our parquet a very high resistance, thanks to the industrial process used. This ensures an excellent resistance to use.

SUPPORT. The birch multilayer plywood used for the support promotes the product’s performance. All Tekno’s products have a 7-layer phenolic birch plywood support of certified European origin, the same used in naval engineering; this ensures the product a high stability over time.

CERTIFICATION. The most important features that a parquet can have are its certifications that guarantee quality, respect for the environment and the healthiness of the product. Ask always for certified products.

Pre-finished & Hardwood Floor

ASPETTI E DIFFERENZE

Wooden floors were born as traditional hardwood and pre-finished wooden floors are its engineering evolution.

Traditional parquet is a solid wooden floor, and looks like a block of a single wood species; the pre-finished parquet is instead obtained through the gluing of thin wood planks, of variable thickness, on a support. The difference in thickness of the noble layer as well as the quality of the support used differentiate a quality pre-finished wood floor from a more commercial or imported one. A high-end pre-finished parquet consists of a layer of noble wood in essence, with a minimum thickness of 3 mm. and a support in phenolic birch plywood with a minimum of 5 layers. The pre-finished parquet has an interlocking system on all 4 sides which ensures the floor an excellent functional and aesthetic result.

SWELLING EFFECT

The main difference between a traditional parquet and the pre-finished one is in the painting. While the traditional parquet is laid raw and then finished, a pre-finished one is supplied already levigated and varnished, to ensure greater durability, thanks to the manufacturing painting cycle.

That means a great saving of time in the installation.

The traditional parquet, once laid, needs to be levigated and painted; these operations can take up to 15-20 working days.

PRE-FINISHED PARQUET

Ready to be walked on just after the installation

The pre-finished parquet, on the other hand, being ready to use, needs just to be laid, because it doesn’t require further roughing and finishing work, considerably lowering the costs and time of labor. Your rooms will be ready to live the day after laying.
